Sometimes it is so very easy to forget how much good is unfolding in the world we are creating together. As working members in SoFA, you are at the heart of bringing sociocracy to our world; helping people to learn tools and practices that empower more change in our collaborative efforts to make a better future. I am feeling a lot of gratitude for what you bring to SoFA, but also for how you bring sociocracy into your vision of a better world.
Looby Macnamara has a lovely approach to agreements and behavior in her social permaculture work. In Cultural Emergence, she talks about personal culture, group cultures, and also larger social or cultural emergence. Sociocratic meetings–where collective, collaborative intelligence and emotional intelligence rise to the surface–are one of the best opportunities we have to practice these cultures. I look forward to the day when we reach a tipping point into regenerative culture as our way of life.
Thank you for being a vital part of the work in SoFA.

NGO and Nonprofit Circle was a success!
On March 21, the NGO and Nonprofit Circle held its first mini-conference for the sector. Our focus was on Aligning Vision and Values. We moved together as one group through a welcome; four presentations; and a Q&A session. Leonie Smith’s presentation on determining whether leadership is ready to shift toward shared power sparked a lively conversation that allowed our collective wisdom to emerge. “Move at the speed of trust” was a a key takeaway from that presentation. Jerry Koch-Gonzalez shared technical details of how to work with Boards and Bylaws in a nonprofit setting. Jason Schulist shared a fascinating case-study of how a cooperative in Appleton, Wisconsin, USA is working to increase local, regenerative economy using sociocracy as its governance structure. Ted Rau spoke to nonprofits as wiser organizations. Altogether, the audience was thoughtful and engaged. Thank you to Mary Tauras for her work organizing the conference! We look forward to engaging with those who attended and seeing the impact of the conference in the world. Look for recordings in the coming weeks. If you would like to join the sector circle, please reach out to [email protected].

“Getting Over Yourself” – A Conversation between Tara Brach and Stephen Josephs
You may already be familiar with Tarah Brach, a renowned spiritual teacher whose podcasts offer profound insights. Recently, she engaged in a conversation with executive coach and author Stephen Josephs, who has worked extensively with top business leaders to help them transcend egoic conditioning and maximize their impact on others and societal change.
During this insightful dialogue, Josephs draws upon his own experiences of inner freedom and awakening, shaped by personal trauma, six decades of spiritual practice, models of adult development, and the wisdom of Lao Tzu’s poetry.
It’s not often that we hear stories about leadership, work and spirituality. That’s why I wanted to share this enlightening conversation with you.
