Circle Reports
The Infrastructure Circle met recently to review sections of the Delivery Affiliation Agreement (DAA) that involve infrastructure needs and to develop a new approach to the SoMBU. They also started planning a new membership policy. The IT team, is creating a new Drive and beginning to implement Peerdom. Website Circle is working on the WCP CoP and preparing a report on the recent website workshop. The Well-Being team is scheduled to meet this week to discuss the DAA and work on a LUSH grant proposal. Lastly, the Commons team is focused on establishing their circle, defining process roles, and identifying core content.
The Community Support Circle has prepared a form and an email that will be sent out to all communities, including former sector and language circles. The email invites recipients to a first meeting scheduled for Thursday, September 5th, and encourages them to fill out the form. Additionally, Thomas is offering 1-on-1 meetings with community members, preferably before the group meeting, to discuss their needs and perspectives.
The Delivery Support Circle is organizing its first meeting to kick off operations, aiming for the 27th. Initially, the circle plans to use one link during the first few meetings to establish a clear direction for moving forward.
Stay tuned for updates as the new SOFA network models continue to evolve.

IT Circle needs your help: new working spaces for the new organizational structure
Dear Circles!
We, as SoFA working members, are actively taking steps to migrate to the new organizational structure that we recently agreed to adopt. The Log Keeping Team and IT Circle are working to support this transition, as well. We have a questionnaire about the state of your circles in SoFA that will help us keep our records (such as our organizational diagram) up-to-date.
Would you ask either the secretary or leader of your circles (including circles that are unclear about how they fit into the new organizational structure) to fill out this questionnaire before the end of August?
In addition, we’ve set up a new, mostly-empty Google Drive that we can use for storing new folders and documents. It currently contains the basic directory structure according to the Google Workspace best practices. The older, legacy Google Drive is now called “SoFA [archived: 2024]”, and you can copy, move, or add shortcuts from the legacy Google Drive to the new Google Drive. Our goal is to bring forward items that are still actively used or referenced so that the new Google Drive can offer increased focus and clarity. We encourage you to talk with your circles about what materials you still need to have immediately available in Google Drive.
To move or add shortcuts:
- Find the file or folder you want to bring to the new Google Drive.
- Choose the More actions menu (either with the three dots button or by right-clicking on the item).
- Choose Organize and either Move or Add shortcut.
- Google Docs will ask you where you want to move or add a shortcut for the item. There is an All locations tab. From that tab, you can navigate to Shared drives, and then further into the SoFA shared drive and then the folder where you want to move or add a shortcut for the item.
We encourage you to attend a SoFA co-working session either on Wednesday, August 21 at 1400 UTC, where members of the Log Keeping Team will be available to help you with moving files over and to answer your questions. You can join at any time during the co-working session; we meet in the following Zoom room: https://zoom.sociocracyforall.org/lila-raum, and also please ask your questions below! We’ll also share this information with SoFA members via SoMBu; we hope that all SoFA members will be aware of these changes soon.
