S1: writing Vision, Mission, Aim, Domain (VMAD)

Every organization exists for a reason. VMAD helps to translate the “why” into operations.

Skill description formulating appropriate visions, missions, aims, and domains
How to acquire skill self-study; workshop; practice in real life; MVOS chapter 2.2
Show skill writing 2 sets of VMAD for 2 existing organizations; go down one level in the work breakdown structure for each organization.
Measurement Peer group (ALC) assesses based on checklist below
Checklist
  • Vision clear?
  • Vision describing an ideal and desirable world?
  • Mission clear?
  • Mission describing an overarching strategy of achieving the mission?
  • Aims clear?
  • Aims nested, concrete, and doable?
  • Domains clear and without obvious gaps? Give an example of an interface agreement between two domains.
  • Domains aligned with aims?
  • Essay question answered and clear?
  • (‘What is the difference between an aim and a mission?’)
