What does a sociocracy consultant do for you?
The sociocracy consultant identifies the stage of implementation your organization is currently at and assesses your organization’s needs. They also assess with you what kind of support might be useful to make your next steps effective and successful
Services that are typically part of an implementation:
- assessing training needs
- forming, coaching, and strategizing with the implementation circle/transformation team
- observing and facilitating meetings
- 1:1. or small-group conversations with stakeholders (the board, leadership, or people with concerns) and open Q&A sessions (e.g. for the whole membership or staff)
- Holding and facilitating “kick-off” events – we help you set up the first circles and the General Circle. This can be, for example, a two-day event with deeper training, formal adoption, and “flipping the switch” into your new governance system.
- Designing your circle structure and key roles, as well as documenting your governance system (see our samples and templates)
- Aligning your documents and bylaws with sociocracy

Ted Rau
Ted is an advocate, trainer for self-governance and sociocracy consultant. After his PhD in linguistics, he encountered peer-oriented governance systems and became curious about ways of organizing grassroots groups effectively yet equitably. He is co-founder and Executive Director (leader of the General Circle) of Sociocracy For All. Ted identifies as a transgender man; he has 5 children between 10 and 20. He is a German citizen and moved to the US in 2010.
Ted is the author of Who Decides Who Decides (2021) and Collective Power (2023), and co-author of the sociocracy reference manual Many Voices One Song (2018) and implementation book From Here To There. Read his articles on the SoFA page, on medium and in this LinkedIn Newsletter.
His experience as a sociocracy consultant is with business, nonprofits, academia, and multi-stakeholder organizations.

Jerry Koch-Gonzalez
Jerry is the co-author of the sociocracy reference manual Many Voices One Song. He is a certified sociocracy consultant.
Jerry has been committed to nonviolent social change all his adult life. He started his career with anti-oppression (especially classism), then became a certified trainer of Nonviolent Communication/NVC, facilitation, consensus. In the last 10 years, he has focused on his work in sociocracy. Jerry used to be part of The Sociocracy Consulting Group, and he is co-founder of Sociocracy For All where he now works full time as a trainer and sociocracy consultant. Jerry was born in Cuba and immigrated to the USA as a child. He has lived in community all of his life, since 1994 in Pioneer Valley Cohousing.

Audrée Morin
Audrée is an advocate, trainer and consultant for self-governance with sociocracy. Trained as a biologist, Audrée encountered sociocracy while being involved with the Global Ecovillage Network and touring intentional communities. She now dedicates herself to help humans collaborate better, for their own wellbeing and a more positive impact on their surroundings.
She has worked with SoFA’s Intentional Communities Circle since 2021 and is a SoFA Professional Partner since 2025. She has earned her Trainer Certification in 2024 and is working on her Consultant certification, mentored by Ted & Jerry

Zujeil Flores
Zujeil Flores is a sociocracy trainer and coach. She has been actively involved in Sociocracy for All since 2018 and has held many roles including coordinating the 1st cohort of the Sociocracy Academy in Spanish (2021-2022). She’s currently a member of the Organizations Support, Training, and Web Content Publishing circles at SoFA.
Zujeil holds a Masters in Public Health. Her study of the social determinants of health led her to an interest in cooperation, collaboration, and support systems which then led her to the study of self-governance. Zujeil was born in Mexico and resides in Philadelphia, PA, USA. She is mom to 2 very active homeschooled boys.

Anne Sheridan
Anne is a trained facilitator and self-identified “process nerd” with over two decades of experience in collaborative decision-making and anti-hierarchical organizing.
She enjoys both teaching sociocracy to individuals and helping organizations figure out how sociocracy can address their particular needs.
Anne also has experience with post-growth economies, conflict engagement, and Nonviolent Communication and believes a well-run meeting is one of life’s great joys.
Michelle Tsutsumi
Michelle Tsutsumi (she/her) is of Norwegian, Swedish, English, French, and Japanese ancestry. She currently lives rurally in Secwepemcúl’ecw (colonially known as Chase, BC, Canada) and brings a depth of experience from her background in body-centred trauma therapy, organic farming and communications.
For over 20 years, Michelle has used a systems lens to co-create participatory spaces where justice and equity are more structurally present within the nonprofit, food justice and co-operative sectors. Michelle practices deep listening and relationship building to co-design processes that enact collective care and the decolonization of both self and organizations. She is especially interested in practices that facilitate emergent spaces and the stamina to navigate transitions.
Michelle’s learning lineage and practice has continued to deepen through Sociocracy For All since she completed SoLT in early 2023, then attended an immersion Academy 1 in fall 2023 (which was amazing!). Michelle attended the classroom part of Academy 2 in early 2024 and is working on completing certification for Trainer and Consultant in 2025. She practices sociocracy within the workers co-op she co-founded, a Farmers Institute and has supported the implementation of sociocracy in a non-profit co-op.
