June 2 @ 15:00 16:00 UTC

Sociocracy intro webinar - - Sociocracy For All

Are you tired of power games in your organizations? Do you have hope that collaboration in organizations could bring out the best in people?

Do you think organizations could be places of synergy, collaboration, growth, and deep and authentic connection?

This webinar is giving an overview of sociocracy. We will talk about:

  • better listening
  • consent decision making and circle structure
  • examples from real life!

Presenter

This month’s introductory webinar will be taught by Maheen Shafiabady.

Maheen’s bio: I help human-centered leaders interested in a new way of working to harness the capacity and power of individuals for innovation and collaboration through distributed decision-making systems. As an organization development practitioner, I see sociocracy as a clear method for building compassionate and productive teams.

Sociocracy found its way into my life when I provided consulting services to a CEO who wished to embed it across the organization. I fell in love with the concept, am a Certified Practitioner, soon-to-be-Certified Facilitator, and am currently in Academy Level 2 to increase my comprehension and application.

From a lived experience lens: My multi-cultural business experience as a people manager as well as a leadership development facilitator across multiple sectors has focused on building enduring cultures of learning and productivity. Some of my previous clients include Wikimedia Foundation; the City of San Jose; TecDia, and private equity-held companies.

From a formal education lens: I’ve earned an MS in Organization Development from the University of San Francisco, a BS in Communication & Education from University of Illinois, and currently serve as President for the Bay Area Organization Development Network.

And finally: based in Santa Clara, CA, I love balancing simple joys like family game nights with planning her next adventure–whether multi-day wilderness backpacking, road trips, or learning a new language.
