Power to the Children Documentary Screening and Q&A Fundraiser

We’re very excited to present this opportunity to you! Come watch the documentary “Power to the Children’ with us. This film offers a deep insight in the lives of children who are part of the Children’s Parliaments in India. The Children’s Parliaments are a huge and successful effort to help people solve serious problems in their communities – with 100,000s of children involved nationally.

The Children’s Parliaments are committed to sociocratic elections and many operate by consent. We consider the Children’s Parliaments the biggest sociocratic organization in the world.

But it gets even better! Swarnalakshmi Ravi, the former national prime minister of India’s Children’s Parliament who is featured in the film, will join us for a Q&A. Additionally, two youth members of the Provisional World Children’s Parliament will attend and contribute to the Q&A from a youth perspective.

The event will be a fundraiser for training a new chapter of the Provisional World Children’s Parliament in Kenya, and to fund initial projects that the children will decide on sociocratically. Make a donation in order to support the Provisional World Children’s Parliament to open a new chapter in the slums of Kiberia, Kenya.

Format

• Introductions to speakers, welcome to attendees – 10 min
• Screening of the movie Power to the Children – 90 min
• Q&A with Swarnalakshmi Ravi, former national prime minister of India’s Children’s Parliament and two Provisional World Children’s Parliament members (50 min)

Location and Access

This will be a dual in-person and online live event, with the in-person portions streamed online. The location for the in-person event is The Fruit Warehouse in Durham, NC, USA. Visit this link for more information and ticketing for the in-person event.
