Breaking Cycles Community of Practice

28/10/2022 @ 11:0013:00 EDT

Image of a broken chain representing how we can break with the common understanding of power in an oppressive way and embrace the concept of power as the capacity to do (with others).

Breaking Cycles is a community of practice for members of sociocratic organizations that are interested in discussing harm reduction and unlearning & breaking cycles of the dominant oppressive culture within our personal relations and organizations. In this peer support space, we will share thoughts & experiences, and create new patterns for regenerative collaboration that are truly equitable and inclusive.

How do we address collusion with systems that cause harm within our sociocratic organizations? How can we use the tools of sociocracy and NVC to address and reduce harm? How can we be more aware of the ways sociocracy can also be used to create harm in organizations?

What is a community of practice?

  • It’s a regular group with defined members – so we can build trusted relationships with each other.
  • It’s open to people who are in sociocratic organizations.

We will support each other in all the questions that come up in our practice.

What happens at a meeting?

  • Check-in
  • Building the agenda: gathering topics from the group in a round
  • Talking about the topics (in rounds)
