About this class
Are you interested in learning more about some of the basic principles of sociocracy? Or perhaps you are considering joining our Academy program in the fall, but aren’t sure if you’re ready? In this 3-hour session, we will cover a few of the core elements of sociocracy, including building a circle structure, circle roles, and consent-based decision-making. It will provide those new to sociocracy with a solid foundation. For those considering SoFA’s Academy, this is a great way to review what you already know, as well as fill in some potential gaps.

Trainer
Anne Sheridan
Anne is a trained facilitator and self-identified “process nerd” with over two decades of experience in collaborative decision-making and anti-hierarchical organizing.
She enjoys both teaching sociocracy to individuals and helping organizations figure out how sociocracy can address their particular needs.
Anne also has experience with post-growth economies, conflict engagement, and Nonviolent Communication and believes a well-run meeting is one of life’s great joys.
My pronouns are she/her and I live on unceded, unsurrendered Anishnabēg Algonquin territory in so-called Cantley, Quebec. I’m a farmer, bartender and community advocate who learned about sociocracy through an interest in intentional communities. I aim to embody sociocracy everywhere I go and am currently working on my Academy 2 badges. I am particularly interested in land use, food systems, harm reduction and dismantling white supremacy 🙂
