Selection process – choosing roles by consent

Selections class - - Sociocracy For All

June 14 @ 10:00 12:00 EDT

Basic sociocracy methods class

About this class

The selection process is used to choose people who will become facilitators, leaders, and delegates. It’s one of the cornerstones of sociocracy. It helps make decisions that avoid popularity contests and secret ballots and fosters transparency, feedback and focus on who can serve in the role.

During this class, you will learn how to use the selection process and practice it – including its variations. It will also cover what can be done when someone objects.

Level

Getting Started. (Never been to a workshop, watched/read a few things.) It’s also okay to join if you have other experience but simply haven’t covered selections yet.

Unsure of what your level is? Try our Sociocracy Level Quiz. This event is geared towards people with an assessment score of <14 but open to anyone.

Topics

The selection process is a brilliant balance between groupthink and convergence, pragmatic choices and deliberation.

  • Selection process – standard process
  • Variations: choosing several roles at once, using the selection process for other things than roles
  • What to do when there’s an objection.

All classes include presentation, practice, and time for questions.
