Tending a Living Course – A collective showcase on a decade of shaping sociocracy training using sociocracy

Description

Empowering people with a foundational capacity to understand and start meaningfully practicing sociocracy is an art. Helping people realize and experience how leadership can genuinely be distributed is often best served through an ‘lived’ experience of doing.

The Sociocracy Consulting Group (TSCG) have been traversing this terrain – providing foundational training in the Sociocratic Circle-organization Method (SCM) for the past decade. Our 5-person international collective delivers a 6-session online course that effectively and dynamically establishes the early learner for a healthy and robust practice of distributed leadership.

Through use of SCM concepts to design the training, a ‘living’ course has been developed – one that adapts and grows to maintain relevance and coherence for the learner in an online learning environment. It equally includes all voices of our collective to meaningfully shape how the training is provided.

This showcase presents the five voices of TSCG to share our collective experience of working together to shape this living training as a microcosm of sociocracy in action.

The showcase offers conference participants insight into maintaining the relevance and impact of a collectively run course through iterative feedback processes. It also offers inspiration for rigorous SCM practice in building responsive, adaptive and effective culture from a team that has been working together for over a decade.
