Lessons Learned: Transitioning from Consensus to Sociocracy (Normal Wassel)

Bio: Norma Wassel has worked as a community organizer and developer of nonprofit community-based organizations focused on the public good. As a trained social worker, this also includes advocacy for people both on an individual and small group level. She has taught social policy and human rights both in the U.S. and internationally. Norma has found that the implementation of sociocracy where she is an active member of the group presents its unique challenges.

Description: This workshop will cover how a cohousing community in the U.S. transitioned from using consensus to adopting sociocracy. What worked and what could be done better next time? It will cover the developmental stages, challenges to implementation, and how sociocracy was integrated into the governance process.
