SUMMARY:Group coaching: What’s the next step for me/us and sociocracy?
DESCRIPTION:Are you unsure how to go about learning more about sociocracy? How about moving forward in your organization? What are the options for getting deeper\, getting practice\, motivating your team to learn or use more sociocracy? Do you want someone to strategize with you?  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis webinar is a 60min session where we will have 3 people ready to answer your questions. We will be in 3 rooms on 3 topic areas: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Room 1 \n\n\n\n Individual learning – How can I learn more? How can I become a better facilitator or practitioner of sociocracy?\n\n\n\nThis makes the most sense if you already have some exposure to sociocracy (not complete beginners). \n\n\n\nWith Ted Rau \n\n\n\n\n\n Room 2 \n\n\n\nGroup learning – How can my team get trained? What are easy ways to get my team on board? \n\n\n\nThis makes sense if you have a group that is wanting to learn with you. \n\n\n\nWith Zujeil Flores \n\n\n\n\n\n Room 3 \n\n\n\nOrganizational implementation – How can I prepare an implementation in my organization? Who should I talk to? How should I go about it?  \n\n\n\nThis makes sense if you know about sociocracy and you’re in an organization that isn’t sociocratic but could be.  \n\n\n\nWith Jerry Koch-Gonzalez \n\n\n\n\n\n\nYou will be able to submit your questions so come prepared! You will be able to switch between groups but it might be best to decide which group to attend. All breakouts will be recorded and you will receive a summary after the webinar.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent date and time\n\n\n\nThis webinar will meet on Tuesday\, June 10 at 10-11am EDT / 7-8pm PT \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTickets\n\n\n\n$0 – $10 – This webinar is free\, however you may choose to make a donation to help us carry our mission forward. \n\n\n\n\nGet your ticket

SUMMARY:Living Into Our Values
DESCRIPTION:A common story: mission-driven organizations that write beautiful words on their website. But under the hood and behind closed doors\, it’s the same old same old power dynamics. It’s disheartening to see how many organizations struggle to be the organization they want to be – despite best intentions. The missing link is often the lack of a governance system that creates conditions where a positive culture can evolve and thrive.  \n\n\n\n\nInstead of unacknowledged power-over or apathy\, find clarity. \n\n\n\nInstead of pretty words and analysis paralysis\, find action. \n\n\n\nInstead of saying “we’re inclusive and we care”\, implement the structures that support it. \n\n\n\n\nMany of those aspects can be addressed by the governance system sociocracy. We will show why awareness-based approaches and good intentions alone can’t address a lack of integrity\, and what practices and tools actually work – not for being perfect but closer to who we want to be.  \n\n\n\n\n\nThis webinar is part of our Leading Together with Sociocracy webinar series for non-profits\, small biz\, activists\, and communities. SUMMARY:Founder Dynamics - Free
DESCRIPTION:Some founders have a really hard time sharing power. Being a founder requires a certain skill set of being a passionate generalist who can get things done – a slightly different skill set than building a sustainable organization to carry the mission.  \n\n\n\nAs these groups around a founder grow into organizations\, there is a classic trap that evolves:  \n\n\n\nFounders feel very responsible because\, of course!\, they care about the organization\, they often hold the intellectual property or expertise\, as well as relationships. Others want to contribute to the mission but soon notice that all paths in the organization seem to lead back to the founder. For everyone else in the organization (self-starters or just people who want to do their work well)\, that can be a maddening experience.  \n\n\n\nThey might even be aware of the disproportionate power they hold.  \n\n\n\nThose patterns are hard to break – frustrating everyone else and depriving the organization of broader input.  \n\n\n\nFor founders\, it can be dramatic – being a bottleneck is not healthy and can easily lead to burnout.  \n\n\n\nThis free webinar will show how to get out of the trap – if people are ready.  \n\n\n\n\nWe will talk about people end up in the trap\n\n\n\nUnderstandable and well-intentioned actions that just tighten the trap.\n\n\n\nWhat works?\n\n\n\nNext steps you can take as a founder or member\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nThis webinar is part of our Leading Together with Sociocracy webinar series for non-profits\, small biz\, activists\, and communities. SUMMARY:Exploring Self Governance in the Fediverse: A discussion about decision making among a federated ensemble
DESCRIPTION:Topic\n\n\nJoin us for a sociocratically facilitated discussion on decision-making in Fediverse-connected organizations! \nOur aim is to delve into the existing decision-making practices and examine the challenges faced by various Fediverse-connected organizations\, including server admins\, coding projects\, protocol designers\, and the broader community. In addition\, we’ll provide a brief (15-minute) overview of sociocratic principles and demonstrate their application throughout the meeting. We also hope to identify the next steps for Sociocracy for All’s Free and Open Source Content Circle and Fediverse community members to support your journey towards making decisions with equity\, efficiency\, empowerment\, trust\, and transparency using sociocracy. \n\n\n\n\nBackground\nAlthough the Fediverse has been in development for many years\, it exploded onto the global scene as people increasingly fled Twitter’s sinking (perhaps already sunken?) ship for the Fediverse-compatible platform Mastodon (a free and open source microblogging platform with an interface somewhat similar to Twitter’s).\nAs Mastodon servers were flooded with digital refugees\, the difference between a self-hosted platform with no central company or CEO steering the ship was confusing both conceptually and practically. Likewise\, Mastodon hosts have grappled with what it is to scale up and keep and grow the community\, with the breaking of waves resulting in many servers failing and crumbling under either unreasonable costs shouldered by individual hosts or a milieu of moderation challenges. Systems like the popularity of the #fediblock hashtag\, an informal system to support moderators highlighted some of the challenges and successes of decentralized management around questions of interconnection and shared vision and practices.\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\nSchedule\n\nTime\nmin\nTopic\n\n\n \n0:00\n5\nWelcome and agenda presentation\, introduce FOSC and SoFA\n\n\n \n0:05\n15\nIntroduction round\, get to know each other\n\n\n \n0:20\n30\nUnderstanding tensions within current common governance models\n\n\n \n0:50\n15\nSharing sociocratic practices\n\n\n \n1:05\n15\nNext steps for FOSC?\n\n\n \n1:20\n10\nCheck-Out\n\n\n \n1:30\n \nEnd\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\nLocal time zones\n\nThis event is one ~90-min on May 29th 2023. SUMMARY:Webinar: Future of work - wishful thinking or reality? Interview with Aaron Dignan
DESCRIPTION:? About the Future of Work webinar with Aaron Dignan\n\nThere has been so much work done in the realm of improving workplaces with frameworks like Holacracy\, sociocracy and Reinventing Organizations. In this webinar\, Ted will talking with Aaron Dignan\, co-founder of The Ready and author of the book Brave New Work. \nWhat does Aaron see? Is the future of work really changing on the ground? Or are we only changing small pockets and find ourselves in a future-of-work echo chamber? And if that’s so\, what’s needed to shift more into mainstream organizations? \n? About Aaron Dignan\n\n“Everywhere I look\, I see the same phenomenon. Our most trusted and important institutions—in business\, healthcare\, government\, philanthropy\, and beyond – are struggling. They’re confronted with the fact that the scale and bureaucracy that once made them strong are liabilities in an era of constant change. For the past ten years\, I have studied organizations and teams with a new way of working that prioritizes adaptivity and autonomy over efficiency and control. I believe teams everywhere need reinvent the way they work. \nAs the founder of The Ready—a global organizational transformation and coaching practice—I help companies large and small adopt new forms of self-organization and dynamic teaming. Our clients include Johnson & Johnson\, Charles Schwab\, Kaplan\, Microsoft\, Lloyds Bank\, Citibank\, Rabobank\, Boeing\, Macy’s\, Mailchimp\, Airbnb\, Sweetgreen\, Dropbox\, Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum\, New York Public Radio\, and charity: water. \nAs the founder of Murmur—a SaaS startup that helps teams improve through the magic of working agreements—I’m building a platform that will allow every team on the planet to define and share their way of working. \nI’m the co-host of the Brave New Work podcast\, an angel investor\, and I help build partnerships between the startups and end-ups I advise. I’m also a co-founder of Responsive.org\, and have sat on advisory boards for GE\, American Express\, PepsiCo\, and the Cooper Hewitt\, as well as the board of directors for Smashburger. I am the author of Game Frame (Free Press\, 2011) and Brave New Work (Portfolio 2019).” \n? SUMMARY:Sociocracy and Language of Spaces
DESCRIPTION:This Webinar will give you a first impression of the principles and practices of the Language of SpacesTM framework (LoS) and how it can support you on your personal journey with self-organization. LoS is the only framework that has been developed out of the actual practical experience of self-organization. Over the past 10 years it has supported hundreds of people in better understanding and handling the deep personal transformation this shift really means. \nWhat is Language of Spaces?\nLanguage of Spaces is a holistic framework\, developed over more than a decade of practical experience\, that equips people with the capacities needed to thrive within a self-organized context. The framework fosters presence and self-awareness\, deepens intra- and inter-personal problem-solving capacities\, and uncovers pathways to processing challenges from both personal and organizational perspectives. The capacities supported by Language of Spaces are foundational for evolutionary development. \nWhy is Language of Spaces essential?\nLanguage of Spaces addresses the fact that both people (the social system) and organizations (the system of structures and processes) need to make the transformational shift together\, though each with very different focuses and practices. It helps people navigate self-organization by enabling the context of the organization and the context of the people to travel differentiated (not separated!)\, yet in balance. The goal within self-organization is to reach symbiosis\, where the people and the organization thrive within a mutually beneficial relationship. Language of Spaces is the framework that guides you there. \nWho will benefit from the workshop?\n\nAnyone curious\, interested in\, or already on the journey into self-organization\nCoaches or consultants working with self-organizing entities or entities on the way to self-organization\nEntrepreneurs\, CEOs and founders curious about exploring self-organization or shifting current entities into self-organization\n\nAbout the speaker\nChristiane Seuhs-Schoeller\nAlways driven by pioneering the new\, Christiane has been an entrepreneur for almost 30 years and an international Business Consultant and Coach for over 2 decades. For more than a decade she has specialized in self-organization. Learning from the experience of what it means to make such a fundamental shift\, both for organizations and for people\, Christiane began to develop the Language of Spaces framework (LoS) to offer support for this transformational journey. As co-founder and partner of Evolution at Work she speaks at international conferences and delivers LoS consulting\, training\, and coaching in Europe\, USA\, Asia and Afrika \n  \nInterview facilitated by Ted Rau \nTickets/Zoom Access\nThis webinar will take place in SoFA’s Venus Zoom room. \nEvent time\nThe event will be on Tuesday\, July 12th\, 2022 15:00-16:15 UTC. SUMMARY:Contemporary Commons and Changemaking with David Bollier
DESCRIPTION:Commoning is an ancient but newly rediscovered social paradigm of provisioning and governance that arises whenever a group of people seek to steward shared wealth in participatory\, fair-minded\,sustainable ways. Operating independently of state power and capitalist markets\, commons can be seen in open-source peer production and Wikipedia\, cohousing and cooperatives\, community land trusts and CSA farming\, alternative currencies and timebanking\, among many other realms. SUMMARY:Combining Sociocracy with NVC Webinar
DESCRIPTION:This webinar explores the benefits of combining sociocracy and NVC.  Are you working in a sociocratic environment or implementing sociocracy in a group/organization?  Encountering tensions\, or even conflict in meetings? How do you deal with that? \nUsing Nonviolent Communication (NVC) can help you with the right tools/language. Find out how our panelists are using NVC to tackle these challenges. For them\, NVC is an integral part of their daily practice work. After this webinar you will be inspired to use/ combine NVC in your daily practice and learn more about it. \nWe will bring together 3 panelists who both teach and work with NVC and sociocracy to invite a conversation about the combination – are they different and separate\, or where are the convergences? When they learned sociocracy\, why did they want to add NVC? Or\, when they learned NVC\, where did they see gaps that led them to sociocracy? What are examples of situations where they noticed that\, and what has changed in their practice because of that? \nPanelists\nJerry Koch-Gonzalez\n\nJerry helps companies and organizations implement sociocracy to create adaptive and effective organizations where all members’ voices matter. He is a consultant and certified trainer in both Dynamic Governance/ Sociocracy and Compassionate Communication (NVC). \nNara Nishitani\n\n Nara Nishitani has been working as a facilitator\, regenerative culture designer and self management consultant for the past 9 years. She transitioned from a career in the IT industry where she worked for more than 15 years. Her work is based on the Regenerative Paradigm\, organizations as living systems and Sociocracy. She’s also a member of Sociocracia Brasil\, Regenerativa and Teal Brasil movement. She is eager to share her insights for us to cultivate even more regenerative organizations. \nAudrée Morin\n \nAfter travelling to ecovillages and regenerative projects for two years\, I dedicated myself to energize the Ecovillage movement and to learn and propagate the tools that facilitate living together\, collaboration and interconnection. Those tools include Non-Violent Communication\, Sociocracy and the Ecovillage Regenerative Design Principles. I’m a working member at Sociocracy for All\, where I contribute to spread and support the use of Sociocracy in Intentional Communities.  \nTickets/Zoom access\nThis webinar will take place online in SoFA’s Venus zoom room. \nEvent time\nThe event will be on Tuesday\, April 12th\, 2022 at 15h UTC for 1.5h.
